Many people think 3D printing requires a ready-made file. It does not. About half of our orders start with "I have a photo" or "I need this thing but don't know where to get it". We model things ourselves — it is a separate service, but often bundled into a print order.
We work in Fusion 360, Blender, SolidWorks — tool picked per task. Technical parts with precise dimensions — parametric modeling (Fusion/SolidWorks), dimensions change with a single edit. Decor, figurines, organic shapes — sculpting in Blender or ZBrush. Simple stuff — quick direct measurement and CAD.
Typical scenarios: a broken part needs a replacement (model from photo and dimensions), you want a gift from a sample or idea (sketch → 3D), full product development (spec → CAD → prototype print). Separately — reverse engineering: we take a physical part, measure or scan it, make an accurate 3D copy for mass printing or further modification.
Price depends on complexity. Simple part — from €15, complex technical — €50–150, larger projects discussed individually. The file stays with you — you can print at our place or anywhere else.
We work from whatever you have. A sketch on a napkin, a drawing, a photo with a ruler beside the object, a broken part in your hand — any of those is a starting point. What we will not do is guess dimensions: if the part has to fit something, we need the mating dimensions, not just the general shape. One measurement with a caliper saves two print iterations.
We hand over a model that is ready to print, not merely one that looks good. That means wall thickness matched to the nozzle, chamfers where the part would otherwise not seat, clearances on fits, and holes corrected for shrinkage. The file stays yours — take the STL or STEP and print it anywhere, including somewhere other than here. If you do print with us, the modelling cost is discussed separately from the printing, so you can see what you are paying for.
How long it takes depends on how well defined the job is. A part from clear measurements is usually ready in a day or two. An enclosure for a specific board with ventilation and mounts takes longer, because decisions appear that have to be agreed with you: where the connectors go, how it opens, whether it needs heat-set inserts. We show you an intermediate view before printing, so that changes cost nothing rather than one printed part.
Revisions are part of the work within reason: adjusting a dimension, moving a hole, changing a thickness — that is the process, not a new order. Rebuilding from scratch because the job itself changed is quoted again, and we say so at the time rather than afterwards. If you plan to print elsewhere that is fine too; tell us in advance and we will hand over a STEP, which is easier to edit, not only an STL.
FAQ
- What should I send to get started?
- A photo of the object with a ruler or caliper in frame, and a description of where the part has to fit. A proper fit needs specific measurements: shaft diameter, centre distance, thickness. A general view with no dimensions is the start of a conversation, not a brief.
- Do I keep the file?
- Yes. You get an STL or a STEP and do as you like with it — print with us, print elsewhere, or keep it for later. We do not hold the model hostage.
- Can you model a part that is no longer manufactured?
- Usually yes. If the original survives even in pieces, we scan it and rebuild the geometry. If nothing is left but the socket it sat in, we model from measurements and print a test piece to check the fit before the final part.
- What does it cost?
- It depends on the complexity: a simple part from measurements is one thing, an enclosure with mounts and ventilation is another. Describe the job and attach a photo — we will give you a price and a lead time, usually within the hour.
- How many revisions are included?
- Reasonable ones, as many as it takes: a dimension, a hole position, a wall thickness. That is the normal process. If the job itself changes and the model is rebuilt, we quote it as new work and say so beforehand.
- Will you show me the model before printing?
- Yes, we send an intermediate view. It is cheaper to fix something on a picture than to discover the mismatch in a printed part.
